Ontinyent – In 18th, predicted 10th… my first victim?
By: Tom B | June 15th, 2009I need a first victim, and I need it soon. 0 wins from 5 isn’t the way to embark on a great managerial career, and this is a team below me on the ladder, and not predicted
So I want no missed sitters, no long balls which are charitably donated to strikers. No experimental youth players in lop sided formations.
I’ve gone to a stock standard lower league 5-3-2 with long passing and a target man. Manuel (II) is fitting in at right back, as he offers more both ways than Garcia Martinez. Adolfo and Alfonso up front, sound similar, and having been on the pitch together in the last game, hopefully they can build enough chemistry (and asonance) to breach my opponents goal.
No youth players today (except on the bench), but I even have a first squad keeper, right back and striker on the bench. In even better news, Aimar Valdez is fit again in one (1) day. That’s right, plan A can recommence in one days time, or at least when he’s match fit.
Now to the team whose name sounds like ointment (sorry any Ontinyent fans out there), and I wish to be the fly in the ointment, boom boom. Having scouted their star centre midfielder – whose best quality is pace of 12, and watched their previous game, which they lost 1-0 to Gava to a scrappy penalty aread goal after a cross, I’m feeling quite confident. They mainly attacked through the middle, which means they’re unlikely to overload my wingbacks. I’ve given my wingbacks attacking instructions, so hopefully I can also exploit their flanks, and nick a goal or two.

So is it time to use the old sporting cliche of turning a corner, or am I just getting a bit uppity and should face facts that I’m under some serious pressure after half a dozen games? Time will tell.

i have just started a save with parma in the serie b which i suppose barely counts as a lower league game. it sure is interesting down here! i will try to bring them back up as they have done in real life, any advice? the whole money thing has changed and i dont really know what to do because i am used to larger numbers.

Hi Weston, my only advice would be don’t get too fancy as the players aren’t capable of carrying out intricate instructions.
Also, look to the youth team and reserves teams for players who can do a job. They don’t need to be superstars, just capable of carrying out one or two key instructions

Sorry all, I’m in Melbourne until Friday (I live in Perth) and as such will not be updating until next weekend). Apologies.
